Subj: [kl] Search for used contrabass

Hi there,

Not sure if this is exactly the right forum for this
post but anyway I am looking for a contrabass clarinet, used.
I'm not having much luck just poking around on the internet.

Of course I would love to have a Leblanc 340 BBb (the one
that is metal and loops round-n-round), but then who wouldn't?
This is the horn I played in school, with a bari-sax reed.
But as I am not a pro and cannot purchase a new one,
perhaps I am only dreaming of locating one of these horns used.

I play in 2 bands currently and want to start contrabass
in one of them, continuing Bb in the other one.

Any tips on locating a used contrabass would be appreciated.
I would prefer BBb so that when the contra part doesn't exist
or is missing I can track the bass clarinets. (UNLESS anyone
out there has other ideas, given the apparent paucity of
used contrabass horns!) I have never played the straight models
so I am unaware of any special problems there other than chair height.
Also I saw a new Vito resin-type contra on the internet for an
extremely cheap price (<$3000) and wondered if anyone had any
experience with these horns.

Thanks,
jennifer@-----.com
p.s. I will also post to the contrabass group
