Check this out:

In a symphony concert one time- a 30 bar rest coming up- one of those
days when you get water in a tone hole, BIG solo coming up, I swab out
my clarinet during the rest, it gets stuck. What to do? What to do?
only 20 measures left of the rest. Yank harder it gets stuck harder.
One of the flute players in front of me had a scarf on his tuning rod
laying behind his chair on the riser I was sitting on. I grabbed and
pushed the swab back out in reverse. Got things together just in time.
I swear I almost died on the spot.

Another time, opening of one of Gershwins things with the low G trill
that glissandos up to high c. For some reason I started to worry, hit
the high c and started to pass out, only lost my vision for about 10
seconds, played through it from memory, sight came back with a slight
tingling sensation in the extremities.

No fun.
