The best thing that I can suggest is to replace the swabs that come with the
clarinets with a handkerchief swab. These work much better and if the student
makes sure that the swab isn't bunched up when they pull it through, it
shouldn't get stuck. I also have the students put the swab in the bell end
and pull through the barrel.

The only swab that will not get stuck is a Gem Swab, Buffet green material,
or a Hodges (not sure of the spelling, but it is not hoagie;)
Those are silk material (probably not real, but close enough), and very
absorb ant. I use the buffet, but the Gem's are the least likely to get
stuck, as they compress the most when run through the bore. You can get the
Gem at most mail order houses. Locally, probably not, but you could try.
