I remember going to a pre-concert concert at Ravinia (around 1978) where the
winds performed Mozart's Serenade #10. The highlight of the performance was
when Combs would swab his clarinet with what looked like a home made three
-foot long very multi-colored swab. I never saw him use it in the orchestra
though.
