My limited experience with Eb clarinets suggest that playing in tune can be
difficult and oftentimes requires alternate fingerings. This is true on my
Italian Eb, it was true on a Selmer I played for awile a few years ago and it
is true on my instructors new Buffet. I took advantage of an offer to test the
newest Yamaha Eb in California. Simply stated it played in tune with no
adjustments on my part. I would probably buy the Yamaha over the Buffet if I
was getting a new instrument. My Bb and A clarinets are Buffet. No prejudice
towards any particular brand.
