That would be exactly what one would expect. Generally (with exceptions of
course), +/- 435 was what the various groups in the late 19th century liked
to label as A. Now, performers on the other hand tuned higher for greater
brilliance and loudness, which was what the people who paid for the tickets
were looking for.

The tuning fork, according to my wife, originated in Norway from about 100+
years ago - perhaps 150. It is labeled A 435
