Dear Nick,

My favorite combination is my ORSI VR crystal mouthpiece with an older model
Rovner ligature. Metal ligatures seem OK too - the VR mpc hasn't scratched
in about 5 years of playing.

The really interesting thing about this mpc is the how much easier it is to
produce a rich and confident sound on any of my clarinets. I wonder if this
is generally the case with crystal mpcs ? The ORSI VR has a very open tip
and I use a much softer reed than usually. This makes it less of an effort
to tune as I play.

I recently ordered a Bb Pete Fountain Crystal Mouthpiece, an am not sure as
how to care for it and if I can use my present ligature. I play on a Bb Pete
Fountain Leblanc Clarinet with the ligature with which it came (Metal). I
would appriciate any help I could recieve on this issue.
