David -

I have not detected any change in the taste or the reed after treatment nor
has anyone who has tested the product commented about any special taste or
odor in the treated reed.

Soaking in water will not affect the rx. As a matter of fact, reeds do not
seem to get water logged and soggy after prolonged soaking or playing. I
usually use tooth paste to clean my reeds and it does a good job. Alcohol
or alcohol based products such as Listerine should not be used on rx treated
reeds. I haven't tested peroxide yet which many people use and I'm sure
there are cleaners used. I know water, detergents(those without alcohol)
and toothpaste are OK.

Thanks for your good wishes.
Marty
