Dee,

I agree that climate makes the difference, as I said.  As far as pads
and reeds go, I favor Valentino/Gortex pads.  They're indestructible.  I
have Valentino pads that Tom Ridenauer put on my instruments 15+  years
ago that still seal!!!  They're getting pretty grungy, and I'm going to
change them out this summer but that's an amazing life span for here. 
Reeds go in a vandoren reed case with a desiccant.  Now if only I could
keep the mold off of me....
