So, for a personal grudge (correct or not) that occurred 25 or more years
ago, and a practice that CF had no control of, you don't mind the very real
difficulty that the closing puts many of us in.

Talk about self centered and egocentric! Are you a conductor by any chance?

Many of of are bemoaning the death Carl Fisher. I'm not. About 25 years
ago CF billed me for some music that I never ordered or received. I wrote
the repeatedly telling the the error of their ways. The Idiots just kept
billing me again and again. I simply ignored them for a couple years until
they gave up or ran out of stamps.

But, the big reason I'm glad to hear of their passing is their monopolistic
importing practices back in the 60's. They were the sole "legal" importer
of Buffet Clarinets into the USA. The US Customs Jerks could and did
confiscate Buffet products that Americans traveling in Europe purchaced and
wished to bring home. The fixed US price for a Bb was $350. The French
retail price was $125. Carl Fisher was really screwing us American
Clarinetists!
