I have been a Zip drive user for some time. I just bought the USB (Universal
Serial Bus) version for the iMac. I can fit 100 MB of backup files onto a
single Zip disk. By the way, Zip drives are also available for Windows
computers. The new USB version can be swapped between iMacs and Windows 98
Pentium II or III machines that have a USB connector. I have an iDock on
backorder that will give me several standard Apple serial ports; that way, I
can use my existing printers, digital camera, and photo scanner.

Although I SHOULD be archiving all the Klarinet files (said in jest), I
purchased the Zip USB drive so that I can move files from my old Mac to the
iMac. The same Zip disks work on both systems. VERY efficient...and FAST.

All of this is not to say that Windows PCs are not excellent machines. I also
own a Compaq Presario that is outdated but serves well for some projects.

But while PCs, in my view, are just that--machines--the Mac is an instrument.
I don't mean that in the "clarinet" sense but in the scientific laboratory
sense.

Cindy
