Subj: [kl] Vito Eb Clarinets

I picked up an *old* Bundy ebonite Eb clarinet at an estate sale a few years
ago. I now play it occasionally with our community band, but despite
experimenting with a number of reeds and a ligature or two, I'm not satisfied
with the sound, especially above the staff.

Because I am an amateur and don't play it continuously, I am hesitant to spend
a great deal of money on a replacement. I am quite happy with the Vito Bb
clarinet I normally play, and I noticed that Woodwind & Brasswind sells brand
new Vito Eb clarinets for $450. That seems reasonable to me.

Because of my good experience with the Vito Bb, I suspect the $450 will be well
spent. But before I invest, I'd like to find out if there are any particularly
violent opinions on the Vito Eb. Any takers?

I also noted that Eb mouthpieces are a bit more expensive than comparable Bb
mouthpieces. Is the mouthpiece relatively more important on an Eb than on a
Bb?
