I use mine on a hard rubber mouthpiece with no problem - BUT - if it is
too hard, it can get a bit edgy.

Be realistic though! They still have a life expectancy. I give them
about two months of hard playing and they die a quick death. I have one
that played wonderfully for that length of time and now lasts less than a
minute before providing a raspy, plasticy type sound. My others are
strictly emergency reeds I keep handy in my reed case at symphony.

This is why it is a great emergency reed and/or doubling reed (I have two
bass clarinet reeds) - no soaking or warm-up required!
