As an adult who has taken lessons in the past, I heartily approve of the pay
in advance and that you pay for the lesson whether you attend or not.
Sometimes I have had to miss a lesson due to a business trip or some other
reason (but very, very infrequently). I am more than happy to pay for that
lesson as the time was reserved for my use even if something prevented me
from using my slot. It is not the teacher's fault if I must cancel. If a
student does cancel (or even worse doesn't show up at all), the teacher can
not ring up another student at a moment's notice. The teacher's time is now
"lost money" if this time is neither used nor paid for.
