I had this problem some time ago and found out after much gnashing of teeth
that taking off the speaker key and cleaning out the tube cured the problem
as there was some build up of material from cleaning swabs etc that had
partially blocked the tube. This occurs over a period of time and therefore
you become aware of the airiness gradually.
