I live in the HEB district in TX and we had solo and ensemble last week. We
don't go to state at all for memorizing our music, in fact I didn't even
know that some places do until I talked to one of my friends in Coppell.
The only thing we can go to state for is all region.

Last weekend I played Brahms Sonata No. 2. I thought it was the worst that
I had ever played, but the judge was very friendly and helpful afterward and
then gave me a rating of a 1. Also, our 1st band's clarinet ensemble played
Italian in Algiers. I loved it. Our student teacher (who plays clarinet)
wrote out an E-flat part for me and one other person to play on our B-flat
horns. I've decided now that I would like to play the E-flat clarinet next
year, but it all depends on the director.
