Klarinet Archive - Posting 001022.txt from 1999/02

Just thought of another thing to ask you knowledgable people, (of which
I am very gratful for)
Compared with say the oboe, and flute, does the clarinet have a greater
flexibility for harmonics because of its bore shape?
Is there a greater poosibility for harmonic manipulation than a
Conical/cylindrical, double reed/single reed, stopped/open pipe?
Is this too much to ask for , my brain can only take so much on this
subject, it is quite difficult to grasp.
I mean is the clarinet a true cylinder taking into consideration of the
different barrels you can get now(moening etc.) I probably just need a
simple explanation, or just take up the piano.
Thanks again
Donny
