I gave this article a quick read and was happy to realize that It was on the Recorder Home Page which I've already found and listed in my index. (Pat on the back over)
I was interested that they mentioned impregnation not only with oils but also with other chemicals. I've recently heard of soaking the wood for several months in polyethylene glycol to stabilize it before use. This treatment was mentioned in a woodworking book as well as a book on instrument making- both mentions are brief and without detail. Has anyone used this treatment or have any more information about the chemical and its use or possible toxicity?
