<< Today, I had UIL and Solo and Ensemble today, and it went REMARKABLEY
well! I did a solo on clarinet, the Adagio in Mozart's Concerto for
Clarinet in A Major, and a quartet the Chase of the Centaurs. They both
went well, I got a rating of 1 on each. So I am going to get to go to
state this year(YAY!), since I memorized it, which with the Adagio was
not a very hard thing to do). I am a freshman, so my director was quite
pleased with me, and I am very glad to appease him for once. Has anyone
else out there in High School in Texas gone this year? Just wanted to
tell you all my good news, because I have never done this kind of thing
before, and I am VERY exited! Also, do any of you know when State is? I
think it is in May. I may do another Mvt. of the Concerto though,
probably the Rondo, because I cannot tongue extrordinarily fast for some
of the runs in the 1st Mvt. But since he never wrote the piece with any
markings, and left it up to the soloist, I might do a little "revising"
with the articulation, if my teacher lets me.

Just wanted to let you all know.
Happy Clarineting!

Congratulations! Back when I was in high school, I remember making first
chair of the Jazz Band freshman year, seriously pissing off a few Juniors and
Seniors.

I wish there'd been an internet list like this when I was in High School.
With a little more moral support, I probably would have never stopped playing.
(Sigh!)
