If you really want to gross out your friends and acquaintances, just get a
dermatology text book and show 'em the pictures. The dermatologists win
hands down when it comes to visually disgusting things (assuming a little
thing like blood doesn't bother you). They also seem to have thousands of
diseases but only three treatments, two of which are steroid creams.

A few days ago I posted on a medical journal called "CUTIS" which appears
to be devoted to skin disease issues. Volume 4 of that journal (Vol. 62,
Oct. 1998) has, on p. 167, several issues directly related to clarinet
players. One has to do with contact dermatitis from coming in contact
with rare woods, and dermatitis from reeds. Pretty disgusting pictures
is you are not into skin diseases.

Do doctors take classes in disgusting things?
