Not without sticking something up the bell. But if there's time (I
don't remember whether there is), you can use a cardboard tube, or even
the bell of another clarinet, with a strip of BluTak around the top,
over the metal ring. This is secure enough, and easily shove-uppable
and pull-outable.

Then the fingering is the same as for the 'full Boehm' clarinet.

I used to do this for the harmonics in the Berio Sequenza, but then
Berio objected, saying that he didn't like the dramatic effect of
inserting 'that suppository'. Whereas I thought it looked good having
two bells for two notes.

It's an interesting piece, isn't it? ISTR the chap dies at the end, and
there's a 78 gramophone record simulation, with the violinist doing the
hiss of the needle on the disc.

I don't recall the harmonic -- perhaps I played another one, or used the
trick above? -- but I do remember being dissatisfied with the
slap-tongue bit, and boring a hole in a large cork that I then stuck in
the barrel to replace the mouthpiece, so that I could simulate the sound
of a heartbeat more realistically:-)

I still have the cork lying about somewhere.
