Strongly suggest you try a better grade of reed. The plain Ricos aren't all
that good. The following would be approximately equal to the Rico 2 1/2 in
strength and are of better quality:

Rico Royal #2 1/2
Mitchell Lurie #2 1/2 (these are also made by Rico)
Vandoren #2 (this is a different company altogether. Their
reeds run harder.)
