Okay, I'm going to be the odd curmudgeon out here. I thought the 2nd
cl/bass cl book was one of the dullest ones I've ever played (and I've
played nearly 60 different shows). The part itself was not only easy
but highly repetitive, with lots of verses and reprises. (I seem to recall
that the first clarinet book was more interesting.) The show may have
been delightful, but I couldn't hear much of what was going on overhead,
so its charms were lost on me.

The point about "lots of 3/4 waltz-ish tempos" is actually an interesting
curiosity: almost all of the show is in some form of 3 (3/4, 9/8, etc.).
There are only a handful of measures in 2 or 4 in the entire show.
