Subj: [kl] What is a Kooiman thumbrest?
Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 06:11:47 -0500

I get a lot of stiffness in my right thumb which results in sluggishness in
the right hand, especially the dastardly fourth finger--I had to give up
playing the piano because of tendonitis. I've been fooling around with my
thumb position and discovered that if my thumb could be extended up vertically
(rather than bent horizontally,) so that the thick of the thumb would be
roughly where the upper and lower joints meet, and if it could bear the weight
of the clarinet essentially on the tip of the thumb, all the sluggishness
diasappears along with the stiffness.

Is there a thumb rest in existence that would achieve this?

Thanks in advance,
Don

<< Yes, tou can remove it, it has a few possibillitys less as the
professional,
but still is a very good thumb rest.
