I'll be performing Paul Jeanjean's "Clair Matin" for clarinet and piano in two
weeks and have essentially drawn a blank when it comes to biographical
information. He's not listed in the New Groves. A search of the internet
only turned up Summit Records' website "liner notes" for Robert Spring's
"Dragon's Tongue" CD which gives his dates (1874 - 1928) and notes that he was
a soloist with the professional band of the French Garde Republicaine and with
the orchestra at Monte Carlo. He was also "the composer of ineluctable (look
that one up) etudes for cringing clarinetists." Any additional information or
reference suggestions woud be most appreciated.
