I have not responded to any of the posts. Being an adult amateur and not a high
level player, I find this mailing list quite intimidating. However, this thread
is one that I do understand .

I am in complete agreement with Mr. Fay.
Even at my level, I care about how I sound, and the mouthpiece I now own has
made a tremendous difference. I have tried a number of Vandorens as well as the
Woodwind that came with my instrument. I now use a Ridenour. The difference is
immense. I also purchased one of his student models for my daughter, and the
smile on her face and the ease with which I can use my mouthpiece was all I
needed to justify the cost. It would seem that the major mouthpiece makers
should be able to
improve their products.

Now, if we can just do something about those pesky reeds......
