When I took a few lessons from Oliver Green on bass clarinet, he had an
old Selmer with a less vertical neck than todays instruments. He
advocated putting the horn as far below the chair as possible, tilting the
head, and raising the stand. I never had a problem with that - but I like
the new Buffet necks - very upright.

I tried a Bay neck at one of the conventions, and it didn't do anything
for me - certainly not worth spending the money on! BTW, I sell a hard
rubber bass clarinet mouthpiece that plays great for only $45 plus
shipping - so the $90 still seems pretty high to me.
