I find it odd that in District 2 you don't have to audition for
districts. Our county festival probably works the same way as your
districts does, though. Band directors just send in names. We have two
bands for counties (N and S), and two bands for districts (upper and
lower). There is only one orchestra for each, though.

If each district sends the same amount of players to regionals, then
that would mean D2 people can get in easier. Whereas if there are a lot
of better players from D7 many don't get in because we can only send so
many. (I'm not trying to say D7 has better players.) A more ideal way
would to have tryouts at the same place for everybody. But that would
mean some would have to drive several hours, and the districts would be
lopsided.
