Here! Here! Part of the reason I switched to oboe from clarinet was so that
I could get a chance to go to districts. Then while applying for colleges,
the place I wanted to go told me that I would have 100% chance of getting on
oboe and 0% on clarinet. I auditioned on oboe and did not get accepted.
Now I am a freshman music ed. oboe major somewhere I don't really want to be
and am considering changing to clarinet. I have finally come to the fact
that I don't like oboe that much. Next semester I may be clarinet...I am
working on Mozart's Concerto right now as an audition piece.

SOOOOOO...never let anyone convince you to do something you aren't sure
about. That is the best advice I can give to all the high schoolers on this
list. Also, competition is rarely as fair as it ought to be. AND...from
having hand problems....always get a second opinion from a credible source.
