Ah, the harsh realities of economics.
It's very true that few or no workers make $1,000 per day. It's entirely
possible, however, that that's how much a craftsman would COST the employer
per day. A rule of thumb in the HR business is that salary is about 1/3 of
what an employee actually costs, what with benefits, taxes, bookkeeping, and
(don't forget) the cost of the worker's station in the factory itself. If
the worker makes $35 an hour--which is not at all outside the realm of
possibility--then the figures are definitely in the ballpark.
