Kevin, you made me cry for all those who don't understand what they're
missing by not playing a symphony...
Forty years ago, I started on flute in 4th grade, hated it, quit, then in
5th grade swiped my 4th grade sister's clarinet. Easy Steps, Rubank,
Lazarus et al and 30 years later I gave my beloved Buffet to my daughter
for 4th grade band. I remember my dad sitting beside me, tapping his
foot and counting out loud so I'd get the rhythms. I did the same for
all three of mine. Ed, I love you for reminding me of the beginnings and
legacies of playing music. I have my clarinet back now and play as much
as I can. Every time I read the klarinet list mail, I am motivated to
play.
Thanks, all!
Paulette
