Sorry to post this after the thread died out, but I was having trouble
posting to the list.

I believe many craftsmen (including Robert Scott and Richard Hawkins)
use muriatic acid to restore old mouthpieces that have turned green. The

mouthpiece is soaked for a period of time in muriatic acid (I've no idea

what strength solution or for how long), then buffed. It then looks
shiny and black, like a new mouthpiece. This is not something I would
try myself.
Maybe someone on the list knows the specifics of how to do this.
