Notation software is a fairly personal thing, I think. I was quite a fan of
Rhapsody & Encore until I moved to Windows NT; neither program works on NT.
Thus, I moved on to Finale. I hated it. I just couldn't get the hang of it.

However, I didn't give up; I knew of the rave comments on Finale, so I kept at
it. About a month ago, almost a year after I bought it, something finally
clicked. NOW I understand why Finale gets good reviews! As someone else said,
once you get the hang of their "speedy entry" mode, it is extremely productive.
I did a six-page transcription of a euphonium bass clef part for our section,
which reads only treble clef, and it only took me two days after I had my
epiphany.
