I use Encore 4.2.1 (i.e., with the patch) on a nearly daily basis and have far
fewer difficulties with it than I did with Encore 2.1, 3.0, 4.0, or 4.1. The only
instability problems I encounter are the positional instability of certain
markings, such as slurs, grace notes, and expression markings that are not
attached to particular notes.

They told me the same thing, and they said that there will be no new releases or
upgrades for Encore before late 1999 at the earliest.
