I recently tried the french style soprano GS reeds (ordered
through Muncy) and was very impressed, even though I misjudged the
strength required (they say these are about 1 full strength harder
than other reeds - I'd say not quite, unless you generally prefer the
softer end of whatever strength you're using). The cane is quite
nice, although one reed in the box had some strange coloration at
the tip (and cracked). I found the remaining reeds to be very
consistent in both cut and strength. Despite the fact that they were
too soft, I was quite pleased with the tone produced (surprisingly,
it was not "laser bright", what I usually get with a soft reed) and
the fact that the reeds didn't wimp out with increasing volume
(again, surprising with the strength). I'll be ordering them again.
Just so you know my point of reference, I routinely use Zonda's and
Vandoren V12's (and occassionally the Grand Concert's) on a Gigliotti
P34 mouthpiece.
