Don't worry if the dye doesn't completely absorb into the rubber. Saliva
might make the dye slough off a little bit, of course, but black lipstick is
very fashionable with guys in the goth crowd and this way you wouldn't have to
bother putting it on fresh every time you go out. Should look neat if you
play gigs in the vampire bars.

Fiebing's Leather Dye has a big warning label that says, "CAUTION! HARMFUL IF
SWALLOWED," and in fact all the leather dyes in my husband's book rebinding
supplies carry label warnings about toxicity, so I guess they're not meant to
be used on things people put in our mouths, but you know how those stuffed
shirts who write up the labels think anything fun is harmful. Licking up some
leather dye might turn you into some Thing really cool.
