The Springer I have (but I would never use it) is made from hard rubber.
Over
time it has turned green. Are you sure yours is plastic?

Graeme Cox replies...

When restoring an old clarinet last weekend, I looked for a way of restoring
the old green hard-rubber barrel to black. Eventually I found a dye made for
shoe leather. It was based on some type of organic solvent, not water-based.
Anyway, it did the job nicely. Time will tell how long the colouring lasts!
Perhaps I should treat my old green mouthpieces too!

Has anyone else tried this sort of thing?

Cheers,
