Do you really plan to play the clarinet while walking/strolling outdoors,
picnicking, etc.? I have had the experience of lugging a bassoon with me
all over Europe and never having an occasion to get it out of the case.
It's really a pain to debate with oneself about whether to try to hide the
instrument in the hotel room, take it with you on a crowded tour bus,
carry it along in museums, etc. Now, when I vacation, I really vacation,
leaving the musical instruments at home. I put some reeds in my luggage,
just in case I happen to have the opportunity to play.

I doubt that a vacation from the clarinet for 2 or 3 weeks will be a
hinderance to your playing or to your growth as a musician. I say, go to
Britain and have a ball! Leave your worries (and your instrument) behind.
You'll be able to catch up in a couple of weeks after getting back.

BTW, my wife and I really love to travel in the parts of England you
mentioned, as well as in Wales. If you would like a couple of hotel
recommendations, contact me by private e-mail.
