As I said in a previous message on this thread I had, up until recently, a
pair of 1010's. I found the build quality superb as you would expect from
one of the foremost instrument manufacturers at the time. The Imperial 926
clarinets were also very good but smaller bore ( I think ) and certainly
without the Acton vent arrangement which I personally found no problems with
properly set up.

The Peter Eaton's are indeed based on the 1010 clarinets and are indeed an
improvement but you would expect that considering the advances in technology
since the last 1010 was made, however, as I said the 1010 is a mighty fine
instrument but requires a little effort to find a mouthpiece to suit.

As for the Peter Eaton player who "despised" the 1010's I can only think
that he was guilty of a bit of clarinet "snobbery" on his part.
