"I met a player of the large bore Peter Eaton instruments a while ago
who
*despised* the 1010 - said they were nasty, mass-produced intruments,
whereas the PEs were nicely hand-finished......."

Roger, The above quote may be true but I hope that it is not going to be
the final word on the 1010 discussion. I understand that the Peter Eaton
clarinet was based on and is an improvement on the 1010. However, I've
recently acquired a pair of 1010's. I find that they are very well
constructed down to the tiny F/Bb adjusting screw with it's insert of
neoprene, or rubber. I use them semi-professionally and I'm extremely
pleased with their construction, tone, tuning and ease of playing. I
feel proud to own and play an instrument that has earned it's place in
the history of the development of the clarinet.
