Why would you stigmatize a promising young clarinetist by relegating him or
her to second band because the child didn't have a wood clarinet? You say it
"hardly ever" happens. Of course not. Parents will break their backs to see
that their children are not outcast this way. I don't understand the logic of
your position. Moreover, I have worked on some plastic instruments (Vitos and
Evettes, in particular) that had great sound and very good intonation. Why the
prejudice against plastic clarinets? You might have a valid point. I just
don't see it.
