I have an Evette Schaeffer which was bought in 1968 and a R-13 which I just
obtained 6 months ago.
is a significant difference. I use the Evette when I travel (which is every
week) because I do
not want to take the R-13 with me. It is always a pleasure to get back to the
R-13.

Playing extremely soft passages on the Evette is all but impossible, especially
in the
Altissimo range; The instrument will not respond. It requires much more air
pressure. Also, it appears to have a slighty smaller outer diameter than the
R-13.

The R-13 has a much more open sound than the Evette. For a young student
the Evette might work, but it is not an R-13
