Just for your amusement and entertainment, movies and films are often in
error in their use of terminology that then gets repeated by the general
populace. "Over and out" happens to be one such error. "Over" is a radio
operator's term that means "I am done talking and it is your turn to talk."
"Out" is the radio operator's term for "I am done talking and will no longer
be listening." So if you combine the two terms (which you should not do),
you are telling the other person he can talk but you aren't going to be
listening!
