Jack:
I've only had two or three students in my band who have had them. I found
that the metal bent easily, the joints didn't fit together that well, and
there didn't seem to be anything especially good about them. They sounded
ok, but I was far happier with the LeBlanc line of student clarinets,
(Noblet & Normandy............The Vito is also in the LeBlanc line but it's
plastic, except for the "VSP", and I don't let my students play on plastic).
The "VSP", by the way, is an excellent intermediate level clarinet. I don't
like the sound of the Selmer "Signets", so the Buffet, (in the wood models),
sounds better to me. Still, the "Signet" is also more sturdy than the
Evette's. I found the Yamaha student line clarinets had the same types of
problems as the Buffet"s.
