I can add some testimony (even though not needed after Mark's details) that
suggests great similarities between Buffet and Evette & Schaeffer. The
lower joint of my Buffet "R13" Bb was assembled for my teacher by a local
repairman by taking a keyless lower joint and adding the keywork from an
Evette & Schaeffer instrument. The fit was exact, with no need for
adjustments or modifications.

Recently there was some discussion about the wisdom of buying an apparent
Buffet R13 without serial number. The upper joint on my clarinet has no
serial number as it was purchased from Buffet to replace a seriously
damaged joint. This cobbled-up clarinet is a joy - I'm delighted with it!
