The controversy is in reality local but I have never checked with the list for
their opinion. Evette was a brand not built by Buffet but by a company that
was licensed to use the Buffet name. (This is as I understand it, real facts
may be different.) The buyer often thinks that they are getting something
comparable to a Buffet at a reduced price. I have had a couple and was not
impressed with them and would much prefer a Selmer 100 series. (That is not a
plug for the one I have listed for sale.) I frankly believe that there is a
tendency to pay more for an Evette because of the Buffet name on the logo when
a better instrument could be had for less. I am copying this to the Klarinet
list and would like to hear others opinions on the Evette Schaeffer clarinets.
