For what it's worth, my high school marching band in 1979-80 had
an all-female sousaphone section. I was half of it.

On the other hand, just a few years before that, my local newspaper
still had separate classified ad sections for "Help wanted - male"
and "Help wanted - female." We've come a long way etc. etc. etc.
