I have a CD in a series called "musicPartner" of the piano accompaniment
of the Schumann Fantasy Pieces, op. 73, it's the same idea as Music
Minus One. It begins with a tuning note A at 443 Hz, described as
Concert pitch A, and sounded on the piano. As this CD is produced by a
German company named musicPartner this lends credence to reports that
Europeans are tuning higher than A440 these days.

In this respect, as in many others, the UK isn't European, at least at
the amateur level I play at, and indeed I hadn't heard of anyone tuning
to other than A440 until I subscribed to Klarinet, and bought this CD.

It makes tuning to the CD on my aging 1010s quite difficult, which is a
shame. Now in the good ol' days of LPs I could have slowed it down to
A440 (sigh...)
