Chain oil is a very thick oil and sticky as hell. I use it to lube open
gears on my lathes! Flutists are using 5w30 synthetic oil. It's very
oxidation resistant, penetrating and long lasting. I,too, use it. I put
it in those little squeezable syringes that us cheap skates get computer
printer ink in. It's more controlable than piston syringes.
