Actually this poster should consult BOTH a medical professional and a
professional clarinet teacher. It sounds as if his/her hand position is
very bad and if it is not corrected, the problem will simply recur and
eventually the medical professional may end up advising the person to quit,
get surgery, or other treatments. Yes you need to treat the problem but you
also need to get at the root cause. Even if the medical person is familiar
with musicians injuries, there is only so much they can do.
